Through our experience of working with parents of premature babies, we know that there are specific challenges that you face when you go home with your baby that other parents may not experience.
Your baby may still be requiring treatment through outpatient services, have regular appointments with a range of health professionals, and have ongoing medical or support needs. It can be that babies who have been born prematurely develop at a different rate to healthy term babies and you will want to be extra careful that your baby or babies are not exposed to germs or infection. It can then be challenging to take your baby to ‘normal’ parent and baby activities in the community.
TinyLife provides special ‘TinyTime’ Parent and Child Groups each month all over Northern Ireland for parents who may have had similar experiences to you facilitated by our Family Support Officers.
Complete a Family Support Form if you would like to find out more about the groups near you.
