Today we are proud to add our voice to The Northern Ireland Children’s Health Coalition’s call for a dedicated “Young Patients Fund” to help families cover the often insurmountable hidden costs of having a child in hospital.
At an event at Stormont, attended by local families and MLAs, the NICHC launched dedicated research showing that families with a child in hospital incur an average cost of over £351 per day, often facing increased travel, parking and accommodation costs as well as daily living expenses.
The establishment of a Young Patients Fund would help these families cope with this additional financial pressure so that they could focus their attention on what really matters, their child’s health.
