£10,000 boost for TinyLife

Premature babies Rhianna Wilton, Belfast, aged 1 and twins Caoimhe & Aine Mitchell, Lurgan aged 2 were delighted to represent TinyLife, Northern Ireland’s Premature Baby Charity as staff of the Ulster Bank Staff Charity Fund make a donation of £10,000 to help strengthen TinyLife’s Family Support Programme.

Chief Executive Deirdre Brady says ‘Rhianna, Caoimhe & Aine represent the hundreds of children across Northern Ireland who are born prematurely and whose families have received vital support from TinyLife Family Support volunteers. We currently have 70 volunteers, the generosity of the Ulster Bank Staff Charity Fund means that TinyLife will be able to develop the service by recruiting and training a group of new volunteers to provide support to families in Northern Ireland. The recruitment and training programme will take place from August – November 2008 with an emphasis on the South Down Area. The newly trained volunteers will go on to support the parents of premature, ill and vulnerable babies through TinyLife’s Volunteer Home Support Service.’

Elaine McCrory, chairperson of the Ulster Bank Staff Charity Fund said “ We in the staff charity fund are delighted to be able to support such wonderful work as this service that Tinylife are providing. It is especially rewarding when we see members of staff having benefited from the scheme we are supporting.”
